"We Rebuilt the Nation’s Collapsed Economy"

• Sajith and Anura Failed to Offer Relief during the Crisis.

• Their Return Now Driven by Greed, Not Compassion.

• Did Sajith and Anura Ignore the People’s Suffering?

• Protect Our Hard-Earned Economic Recovery from Collapse- President Says in Seethawaka.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe asserted that he and his team were instrumental in revitalizing the nation’s economy after its collapse, assessing Sajith and Anura for failing to offer any aid to the suffering people during that time.

He accused them of seeking power out of greed and urged the public not to let them undermine the hard-earned economic progress.

President Wickremesinghe made these remarks during the Seethawaka Public Meeting in Kosgama today (09). The event, which drew a large crowd, was organized to support for the President in the upcoming presidential election.

Addressing the public, President Ranil Wickremesinghe further explained;

I took on the responsibility of the presidency to restore normalcy and ensure that the people of this country had their basic rights and needs met. At that time, people were struggling without access to food, medicine, fuel for transportation, and gas for cooking. Factories were shut down, resulting in lost employment and income opportunities. This dire situation deeply troubled me, which is why I stepped up to lead.

Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake were not prepared to address these crises. They failed to provide food, fuel, or gas, and they did nothing to alleviate the suffering of the people. Instead, they watched as the country endured hardship without offering any assistance.

In contrast, I took decisive action to provide essential supplies, reopen schools, restart closed factories, and restore normalcy to public lives. Together with the Prime Minister, Ministers, and MPs, I led the effort to revive the nation’s economy and bring stability back to our country.

Sajith and Anura did nothing to help the people during their time of need. However, we felt the people's pain deeply and worked tirelessly to provide relief. It's worth asking whether Sajith and Anura even noticed the suffering of our citizens, the fact that children couldn't attend school, and why they failed to respond.

We invited them to collaborate with us in rebuilding the nation's economy, but they declined. Instead, they accused me of protecting the Rajapaksas. If that were true, the Rajapaksas would be with us today, but they are not. They are on a different stage now.

Those who ignored the people's suffering back then are now coming forward, not out of concern but out of greed, seeking the presidency for them.

The nation's economy is still in the process of recovery, and we have worked hard to bring it to its current state. I urge everyone to protect this hard-earned progress and not allow anyone to undermine it. On September 22, let's unite and support this effort to move our country forward with determination.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena;

During the country’s most severe crisis, when anarchy reigned and there was a void of leadership, President Ranil Wickremesinghe stepped up to address the challenges and work towards restoring order.

Under his leadership, he established an environment where citizens can once again feel hopeful about the future and set up a process that allowed for elections to be conducted. President Wickremesinghe embarked on a transformative journey aimed at leading future generations into a new era and revitalizing the economy.

This program must continue to prevent the country from descending back into chaos. To ensure the success of his vision for a developed nation, free from political divides and dedicated to the well-being of its entire people, President Wickremesinghe deserves the support of all political parties.

MP Yadamini Gunawardena;

Today, the enduring symbol of our nation’s hope is President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s victory sign, the ‘Gas Cylinder’. With just 10 days remaining in the election campaign, the people of historic Seethawaka are poised to support President Wickremesinghe’s triumph on September 21. To ensure success, it is crucial to advance this campaign without regard to caste or religion. I urge you to make Avissawella the focal point that will energize the electorate across the island.

UNP Organizer- Awissawella, Amal Pussella;

President Ranil Wickremesinghe stepped in at a time when no one else was willing to lead, rescuing our country from an era of scarcity and queues. Today, he has created the conditions necessary for our citizens to live normally. He has fostered an environment where agriculture, education, and youth development can thrive, while also re-establishing law and order.

Under his leadership, a country that was once blacklisted has been rapidly reintegrated into the global community—a feat unmatched by any other leader. This is why all political leaders in the Avissawella area are now fully committed to supporting his victory.
